The NIW 2023, in collaboration with deans of students, will give the students a platform to showcase their talents through music, spoken word, art, and theatre while entertaining the delegates. This is aimed to enhance student participation, involvement, and mobilization during the three-day event

NIW 2023: INNOVATION AND INCUBATION SUMMIT
Mode: Keynote address and panel discussion.
The Session for incubation will bring experts from universities, government, innovation enablers, and MSMEs associations and enablers, both local and international, to discuss and come up with best practices and models for incubations as a catalyst to start-up creation and growth for youth job creation and sustainable industrial development in Kenya and beyond
DAY 2: 2.00 PM – 4.00 PM
NIW 2023: STARTUP SUMMIT
Mode: Keynote address and panel discussion.
The session will focus on the State of Innovation, start-ups, and entrepreneurial Ecosystem in universities and Kenya in general: Entrepreneurial journey from innovation to start-up from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises perspective (MSMEs) will be discussed. The experts will be drawn from the government, universities, private funding agencies, business community, innovators, the venture capitalist.
DAY 2: 9.00 AM – 12.30 PM
HACKATHON AND PITCHING
The HACKATHON will be carried out in collaboration with industry partners and venture capitalists. Every faculty will carry out Hackathon before NIW, and the three winners from each faculty will compete during NIW. The innovators during Hackathon will be expected to provide a potential solution to a societal problem. A panel of judges will be used for hackathons evaluation, and the winners will be given an award with possibilities of potential support in the development and commercialization of the innovation.
The winning teams from faculties will be judged during this phase to determine those that will proceed to phase two of final pitching

TRAINING: COMMERCIALIZATION OF INNOVATION
The training will provide inventors, innovators, researchers and startups with information on how to protect and commercialize their inventions, innovations and research output. The experts will be drawn from government agencies whose mandate is Intellectual Property right protection across various sectors, such as ALIPO, WIPO, KIPI, KECOBO, KEPHIS, and private Intellectual property practitioners internationally and locally.

NIW INNOVATION EXHIBITION 2023
3.0 INNOVATION EXHIBITIONS
The exhibitors for the innovation will be drawn from innovators, start-ups, entrepreneurs, enablers, established companies, government agencies, funders, students and academia to showcase their innovations, products, programs, and services. The exhibition will be a three (3) days event.
The Innovation Exhibition hosted at the main campus of the University of Nairobi forms the hub around which the numerous events constituting the Nairobi Innovation Week 2023 will revolves.
The event is meant for a wide range of stakeholders, including students, researchers, start-ups, or small enterprises; any innovator or entrepreneur thinking about starting a business; an investor or venture capitalist and the general public. Over 100 exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s Nairobi Innovation Week.
The Exhibition will generally include the following categories of exhibitors:

- Innovators and startups. This will include innovators from the academia, students’ industry and startups.
- Corporate Innovations: Established corporates showcasing their latest innovations offerings in the market
- Local and international Universities: Universities with innovation and /or supporting innovations, startups and commercialization
- Financial and Business Support Services: Financial, risk management and business services supporting innovations and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Government Services and Programmes: Services and programmes offered by government ministries, agencies and departments targeting the start-up, small business, innovator and entrepreneurs.
- Enablers: Hubs, Incubators and Accelerators: Programmes and services available from the enablers in the Innovation Ecosystem.
- Innovation ecosystem support partners: This includes research and product development funders, foreign missions and non-governmental organizations.
- International organizations: these organizations may be subsidiaries operating in Kenya or from outside Kenya wishing to showcase their innovations
